When you search for a Google Analytics partner, you see terms like "GMP Certified Company" and "Sales Partner." This guide explains what these mean, how they differ, what services each offers, and how to verify that a partner is real before hiring.
The term "Google Analytics Certified Partner" now refers to what Google calls a GMP Certified Company or Sales Partner. These are agencies vetted by Google for expertise in GA4, Google Tag Manager, Display and Video 360, and related tools, according to Google Support's Partner Documentation.
Here is the key point: certification is company-level, not individual-level. Google looks at the entire firm's track record, client work, and staff certifications. Individual employees can earn free Google Skillshop certifications on their own. But that does not make the company itself certified. Understanding this difference is important when you evaluate vendors.
Both pass Google's vetting. They serve different roles though.
Certified Companies help you implement and use GMP tools correctly. They set up GA4, build your Google Tag Manager container, arrange BigQuery exports, and advise on measurement strategy. If you are using free-tier GA4, a Certified Company has what you need.
Sales Partners have the same technical skills. They also have permission from Google to resell licensed GMP products, mainly GA4 360. Most large companies cannot buy GA4 360 directly from Google. Instead, they work with a Sales Partner who provides the license and handles setup. This bundled approach often speeds up implementation.
For India work, this distinction matters:
A good GMP partner handles these core areas:
GA4 setup and measurement design. Your partner defines what events you track, builds your event structure, and ensures tracking captures the actions that matter to your business. They learn about your goals first instead of using a generic template.
Google Tag Manager configuration. Your partner sets up tags, triggers, and variables so data flows from your site to GA4. Many teams now use server-side tagging, which works better than older methods. A certified partner advises which approach fits your needs.
BigQuery export and setup. Free GA4 saves data for only two months. If you need older data, your partner handles the technical work and confirms your data structure matches your GA4 setup.
Cross-channel attribution. When you run ads on Google Ads, social, email, and other channels, your partner helps you understand which channel deserves credit for conversions using GA4's data-driven attribution.
CRM and marketing automation integration. Your partner connects GA4 to tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo so your sales and marketing teams use the same conversion data.
Consent mode setup. Your partner configures consent handling for Indian regulations. This lets you respect user choices while measuring what you can.
Certified partners also get early access to new GA4 features before release to all users. Your team gets an advantage when Google releases new measurement tools.
Many buyers make a mistake here. They trust agency websites. Self-reported badges are not real verification.
Step 1: Use Google's official directory. Go to enterprisemarketingportal.google/find-a-partner. This is Google's official list of certified partners.
Step 2: Filter by product and region. Select "Analytics" and filter by India. Only verified partners appear in these results.
Step 3: Check partner type and products. The directory shows whether each partner is Certified Company or Sales Partner. Check what products they are qualified for.
Step 4: Verify India-specific delivery. The GMP badge shows technical skill, but not necessarily India experience. Ask for:
A certified partner elsewhere may not know Indian needs. Always check both certification and India-specific capability.
A GMP Certified Company or Sales Partner is an agency that Google has vetted for expertise in GA4, Google Tag Manager, and related platforms, per Google's GMP Partner Documentation.
A Certified Company provides implementation and consulting. A Sales Partner has the same expertise and can resell licensed products like GA4 360. If you need to buy GA4 360, you work with a Sales Partner.
Visit enterprisemarketingportal.google/find-a-partner. Filter by product (Analytics) and region (India). This directory shows verified partners.
No. Skillshop certifications are free courses for individuals. Any person can take them. Company-level GMP certification is different. Google vets the entire firm.
Sales Partners can resell GA4 360 and other licensed products. GA4 360 includes more data storage, higher event limits, advanced features, and dedicated support. Certified Companies can use these products if you buy them separately.
Go to the Enterprise Marketing Portal Partner Gallery and search by name. If they appear in results for your region and product, they are certified. Website badges alone are not proof.
GA4 360 is the paid version of Google Analytics. Most large companies cannot buy it from Google directly. You need to work with a Sales Partner to license and use it.
Google checks partners every year based on client work, growth, and whether staff have current certifications. Partners must stay above Google's standards to keep certified status.
Certified partners get to use new GA4 features before they are released to all users. Your team can test and use new measurement tools before competitors, which gives you an edge.
Costs depend on what you need (GA4 setup, BigQuery work, training, ongoing help), where the partner is based, and project complexity. GA4 360 licensing is separate from setup costs. Ask partners for a detailed quote showing license fees, setup fees, and support fees.
